The central research question of my doctoral thesis and reason for sleepless nights is how cognitive processes and emotional distractions interact with each other. How are cognitive resources devided and attention allocated during their interaction? In this preliminary project, we investigated the emotion-cognition interaction with EEG and a working memory - arithmetics task with auditory emotional distractions.

Since naturalistic affective German speech stimulus databases are rare, we present a novel validated and online accessible database of speech sequences for emotion induction. Our GAUDIE stimulus database serves the purpose of inducing positive emotions using comedian shows, neutral emotions using weather forecasts, and negative emotions using arguments between couples and relatives. The validated naturalistic stimulus database GAUDIE annotated with multiple emotion ratings fills a gap as a German emotion inducing speech database.

Im Rahmen des BMW-Fraunhofer Research Summits 2022 wurde ich als Teilnehmer ausgewählt, um mein Forschungsvorhaben zur Fahrerzustandserkennung bei emotionaler Ablenkung und kognitiver Belastung vorzustellen. Der Summit bot Nachwuchsforschenden die Möglichkeit, sich interdisziplinär mit Experten aus Industrie und Forschung zu vernetzen und gemeinsam an einer Challenge zu arbeiten.

In one of my PhD projects, I am investigating neuronal activation patterns during simulated driving with Magnetencephalography. I am interested in understanding and decoding cognitive processes during driving with different task difficulties (easy highway road and visually and attentionally more challenging construction work) and concurrent auditory emotional distraction of different valence (negative, neutral, and positive).
